Goat River and Yahk.

I had an amazing weekend with my boyfriend, Travis.  We went camping just outside of Yahk and then on out way home we went out of our way to go to goat river canyon.  |We wanted to check out the free campground there as well as check out the swimming hole.  What an amazing place to swim!!! The water is so fresh crisp and clear! Nice and cold!  Deep enough to dive and someone hung a rope to swing from! Yes I over use exclamation marks sometimes! It was just so amazing! Exclamation!!

We will definately visit Goat Canyon again but I wouldn't bring the kids here until they are older.  Leo is old enough though, I am sure he would love it!

The campsite we chose is right on Meadow Creek about 10 kilometers down a logging road. It is a beautiful little place, grassy areas for your tent which is a nice change from the rocky places we normally frequent. Since we decided against buying and patching and blowing up and hauling all those air mattresses we have slept way better!  We got sleeping mats for the kids and some ultra thin, light weight, self inflating sleeping mats that roll up smaller than a 2 litre pop bottle for ourselves.  They are surprisingly comfy!  We got those and some self inflating pillows for when Travis and I go backpacking. We also want to go on a bike trail camping trip next year.  I love getting outdoors and into nature!  As much as I love summer, I am looking forward to some serious snowshoeing this winter! I love to stay active no matter the weather!

I love camping for many reasons.  I there is no TV or radio.  No cell service spots are the best!  We spend quality time together as a family, and have conversations!  We play cards, we sing and dance, we swim and skip stones and try and catch fish. We all pitch in and help each other out.  We sit around the fire and giggle at the days antics while cramming our cake-holes with s'mores. One of my favourite things about camping, however, is cooking.  I LOVE camp cooking.  Cooking over and open fire is the best!  Its presents its own challenges.  You can't just turn a knob and set the cooking temperature to be perfect every time, you have to use trial and error to get the fire just right.  It depends on the wood you use, how dry it may or may not be.  The shape and size of your fire pit, the distance from the fire or coals to your cooking surface.  how strong the wind is, if any. So many factors! We also have 2 camp stoves because when we are camping with all the kids, that is seven mouths to feed, 3 times a day!  The picture with the tin foil wraps includes chicken drumsticks with a molasses, brown sugar and bourbon BBQ sauce that tasted amazing, and potatoes with garlic, onions, mushrooms, and red peppers.  In the frying pan we have zucchini, onions, garlic, red peppers and mushrooms.  I included a picture of my first attempt at fire roasted garlic.  It tasted sooo good!  A couple of them got a little charred, but it didn't affect the flavour adversely in anyway. I also made kebabs.  The had chicken, zucchini, mushrooms peppers and cherry tomatoes.   I could have eaten 10!

Besides cooking and fun and games with the kids, I love to relax and swim, sun tan and read. This most recent trip was just the 2 of us so I was able to fully relax and focus on just myself and Travis. I curled up in the grass and read a book.  I swam in the creek. I watched the fishies swim by and jump for flies.  I sat in my chair by the water and soaked up some sun. I explored other areas of the creek with Travis. We sipped alcoholic beverages and made silly faces at each other.
Yes, that is my bikini top hanging from my chair. Yes, I was topless most of the weekend.  And yes, I do have sunburned boobies. Was it worth it?  YES! There were no other campers around, there were no children to scold, there were no toddlers to chase, there were no teenagers to coerce into fun activities.  I, and my boobies, were free!  As exhilarating as it is going topless, however, I am looking forward to seeing all my kids again.  I miss them terribly when they are not by my side! Here is a random picture of My Travis, making a silly face at me.  Declan, this is for you too! The towel on the head is a nice touch!   I am looking forward to our next adventure together!  Now that the weekend is done, Back to work, back to getting my life back on track and most of all, BACK TO GETTING BACK TO SCHOOL!   YAY!

Amusement and Technology

Sutton at COTR
We went to the Collage of the Rockies today.  Sutton had great fun opening and closing the automatic doors! He ran towards them and they opened, and away and they closed.  Each time the closed or opened he stopped, said "WHOA!" and did it again! What a monkey!

We found all the information right there for us so I grabbed the booklets I needed.  Sutton was upset that he didn't get any books so I let him carry mine.  He was quite proud.  However, he lost interest in the books as soon as he saw that we got to go through the automatic doors again. The school was rather impressive; Fancy masonry, round benches, a small glass pyramid with rocks in, even the bike racks were unlike any I had ever seen! No wonder tuition costs so much! I was also surprised how close it is to where I am currently staying.  I could ride my bike, and not even break a sweat! And its an uphill trek, too!  Thanks to the trees and a fancy curved road I cant actually see the school from my place, but I could throw a rock and hit it anyway.
I am looking forward to some afternoon reading.  I want to start working on writing out my action plan for when I go meet the career counsellor.

So much to do!

My appointment with a career worker in set for September 3rd. Wish it was sooner but that is the first available day. I have quit the to-do list before I go.
Course information
Past transcripts
Resume
Outline of action plan
Daycare research (CCRR)
Volunteer for my 30 hours
Info on first aid and CPR courses
...
There's probably more that I just can't think of at the moment.  Today I am going grocery shopping, I think I'd like to go to the collage and get more course information.
For no reason other than love, here is a picture of me with my 2 older kids.

YAY!

Ten days into my fundraising campaign I finally get my first contribution!  Twenty five dollars! I am pretty damn excited and I am looking forward to going to school! I talked to the school today about the requirements and it looks like I will have to do quite a bit of upgrading.  I have to get my transcripts from  UFV (or UCFV as it was at the time) and take them to the school to see if my math courses are transferable.  You will probably think I am crazy for saying this, but I kind of hope they are not transferrable because I actually really enjoy doing math.  I just don't want the bill that will go along with having to take another math course.  There are a lot of requirements and I will be meeting with a career worker to help me get as much of these requirements checked off my list as soon as possible. Some of them will be easier than others, I have taken first aid several times, renewing will be a breeze!

I didn't have a picture ready for my first 25 dollar contribution, so i googled this one.  Crazy! LOL!

Testing mobile posting from blogger app!

My android phone isn't quite as good looking, but it fits in my pocket.

OK! here is post number one!

I am not really sure where I want to go with this blog.  I doubt I can do better than my sister over at To a Pretty Life but I will try but showcasing my personal take on life! I just wish I was as crafty as she is!  Please, if you are following me, be patient with my ever changing style for this blog as I am sure I will change the template a few times before I find one I like!
